Hi Greg,
That is an interesting request. My way of looking at it is that they're welcome to put anything in it they wish. You just cant call it milk after the extra stuff is mixed in. Next, they'll be wanting to put alchohol in milk to get adults to drink more of it. Never mind, that's already been done.

I agree. I think that we could easily do things pretty quick and easy by mainly screening for overt terrorist affiliations, then get them a worker's visa. I'm not terribly concerned with the stealing of jobs that some bring up. Many of the jobs that illegals currently do are ones which many seem to think are below them. And I suspect that if they could, they would work their collective asses off to improve their lot. One of the big challenges in this potential is the minimum wage laws. There currently seems to be a move to move it upwards. This will likely result in fewer entry level jobs available and create a new black market for manpower. Hopefully we can figure something out so we arent replacing one kind of illegal worker for a different type.

What I suspect is that most of the immigrants who come here illegally would rather follow the law if that law weren't unnecessarily difficult to comply with. I'd rather have workers who are identified under their own names than a sham system. Make getting a work ID easy, and there'd be much less incentive to steal someone else's identity. That would also protect the workers who currently are in the shadows and are thereby subject to abuse.

Greg,
Isnt that already the current law? That the employer has to get documentation upon hiring? I do agree that counting on a government such as Mexico's to give accurate background data for immigrants is problimatic. So if we know that background data from foreign governments are suspect, then we have to rely on our own data. So what it really boils down to is the concern seems to be collecting taxes from wages. Keep in mind that illegal immigrants using false documents will already be paying taxes . Does it matter what name the person is using as long as the government gets its taste?
